I think the first question we have to ask ourselves is, why are you looking for crafts for kids to do?

There may be many reason why you are looking for crafts for kids to do. Let’s have a look at some of these reasons may be:

Summer is coming and you know you will have to have lots of activities to keep the kids occupied.

You simply cannot think of crafts any more and need some new ideas.

The crafts you do find, are difficult to do and you cannot print any of it.

All the crafts do not have enough pictures to make it easy for you to see what the completed craft should look like.

It takes hours of searching the net before you have crafts suitable for the stage of you kid’s development. Time you could have spent doing the crafts.

All the crafts for kids to do, that you do find, use specialized supplies that you do not have in the house at all times. You have to go and buy supplies before you can start crafting with the kids.

You want to save money by using crafts activities to help your kids make gifts for family and friends.

You want to spend quality time with you kids doing crafts.

You are looking for activities to lure your kids away from the television.

You are homeschooling your kids and you are looking for ways to improve your kids small motor skills.

You are homeschooling and you are looking for ways to help with your kid’s concentration span.

You are aware of the fact that crafts improve your kids self confidence.

You are looking for ways to teach the kids perseverance and know that crafts are an ideal medium to do just that.

You are a play group leader and are running out of crafts.

You are a kindergarten teacher and just cannot think of new crafts any more.

You can not always find crafts that are appropriate for all the holidays.

Well now the next question is where you can find all these crafts for kids to do. I think the very best way is to buy an e-book with lots of printable crafts in it. With an e-book you can simply print the crafts you need and start crafting without having to look for crafts for hours.

The reason I recommend an e-book, and not a printed one, is because it is easy to print the crafts you need. If you buy a printed book you have to draw the templates or you have to make photo copies. This obviously increases the cost of doing crafts. So, with a printed crafts book it is not always possible to do crafts on the spur of the moment but with an e-book you can simply print the craft you want to do and start crafting.

So, I think if you always want to have crafts for kids to do, on short notice, a kid’s crafts e-book is the best. It is well worth the time to look for a good crafts e-book as it will save you lots of time in the future.

Arts and Crafts

What are ‘arts & crafts’? Generally, the term ‘arts & crafts’ refers to handmade products that have been designed individually with the intent of creating a piece of artwork or a decoration. People engage in arts & crafts as artisans and crafters – that is, those who make their living by producing and selling handmade objects – as well as countless hobbyists who do it just for their own enjoyment. Of course, there can also be a hidden benefit if you can make your own gifts rather than having to purchase them. Arts & crafts are deeply rooted in regional and ethnic cultures, so the specifics of what kinds of objects constitute arts & crafts varies greatly across the world.

How long have arts and crafts been around?

The origin of arts & crafts can be found in simple bartering transactions; expert artisans and crafters would trade their skill for sustenance. The artisans and crafters would then pass their knowledge on to the next generation through an apprentice – an assistance who grew up with the artisan for the sole purpose of learning their trade. Artisans who passed their knowledge on in this manner include ironworkers, glass blowers, weavers and blacksmiths.

Of course, this all changed with the industrial revolution. Many of the lovingly handcrafted items that were formerly made by crafters and artisans could now be cheaply produced in large quantities. As a result, arts & crafts as a widespread profession quickly died out; individual artisans and crafters could just not compete with industrial efficiency. Today, those individuals who specialize in the former staples such as glass blowing or weaving are rare, and usually create high-priced items, in contrast to their utilitarian forbearers. In the end arts & crafts is mostly made up by hobbyists and small retailers.

How do you find arts and crafts?

Arts & crafts are generally not difficult to locate. Artisans often participate at arts & crafts fairs in order to have the opportunity to sell their wares, and allow buyers the opportunity to browse and shop from a variety of different types of arts & crafts.

Festivals and fairs are good destinations to look for arts & crafts. Many vendors will rent booths at these events in order to reach a wide audience. In addition to shows and fairs, permanent arts & crafts malls are also easy to find in most metropolitan areas. Frequently, these malls include a collection of semi-permanent booths rented out by multiple artisans and crafters.

Of course, if the buyer knows exactly the kind of item he or she is looking for, the Internet can be a great resource for finding the perfect arts & crafts item. More and more artisans and crafters are now posting their wares online with the ability view photos and read descriptions of their unique products. Nonetheless, while online retail sales have taken off in other industries, arts & crafts buyers typically like the experience of finding and seeing the one-of-a-kind products in person, which has slowed down its adoption in this area.

‘Art’ and ‘Craft’

Art generally refers to fine arts, such as glass creations, paintings and sculptures. The people behind the creation of these objects have usually received formal training at art schools or have studied art through other programs. These art objects are usually expensive.

Crafts, on the other hand, are usually considered to be smaller in scale, or colloquially known as ‘grassroots’ in their creation. Those who create crafts are generally doing so based on passed down knowledge without any formal education. This of course does not mean that they are any less talented than artists. ‘Arts & crafts’ then is the merging of these two creative trends; grassroots objects made by highly skilled artisans and crafters.

The most common arts & crafts objects

As stated above, there are literally countless variations and iterations of arts & crafts objects in the world. Nonetheless, most arts & crafts can be fitted into a few basic categories: handmade jewelry, pottery, woodworking, metalworking, and sculpture are some basic categories into which most arts & crafts can be assembled. Other common types of arts & crafts include cross-stitch, weaving, crochet, knitting, embroidery, patchwork, quilting, macramé, and others. Still more common types include ceramics, wood, metal, needlepoint & textiles, and glass works. Still others are based on paper and paper products, including scrapbooking, calligraphy, collages, paper mache, and origami.

How do you find other arts and crafts collectors?

There are a number of national, regional, and local arts & crafts organizations that can provide both artisans and collectors a place where they can network and gain a sense of community. Some examples of popular organizations include the American Sewing Guild, the Arts & Crafts Society, the Black Crafters Guild, the Home Sewing Association, the National Art Materials Trade Association, the Canadian Craft & Hobby Association, the American Quilter’s Society, the Craft & Hobby Association (United States).

Find a central location at home where the children can work on their Christmas crafts. You will want to provide a large table so they have plenty of room to work.
Rubber stamps are one of the various craft supplies that really add that something extra to your scrapbook layouts. It’s important to have the right materials to hand before you start stamping your scrapbook paper.

I would always advise you test your Rubber Stamps and your scrapbook page ideas before using the design to your actual project. This way if you’re not happy with the result your original scrapbook page will not be ruined.

Always apply the ink to your stamp by gradually but resolutely taping the ink pad onto the rubber stamps as this will ensure a more even coverage. If you press the stamp onto the ink you will find unwanted ink is applied to the edges of the stamp. For most impressive results make sure you are employing a hard flat surface.

When you apply rubber stamps to the paper to form your image, watch out not to rock the stamp and keep your hand as steady as you can. Press all areas of the stamp and gently lift the stamp off in an upwards motion to avoid smearing your scrapbook page.

do not touch the stamped image until you are sure it is dry as this could cause it to smudge. You can also emboss the image or heat it with a heat tool to hurry up the drying process.

if you’re new to rubber stamping I’d counsel you buy rubber stamps that you can use repeatedly again. Alphabet and background stamps being the most typical rubber stamps can be used for many ideas for scrapbooking pages.

Rubber stamps come in several forms, mounted and unmounted. A mounted rubber stamp is mostly mounted onto wood or an acrylic block. Though mounted stamps may cost a little more they are ready to be used and good for making scrapbook page layouts if you’re new to stamping.

Stamping is a truly great way of making backgrounds for your scrapbook ideas that may always be unique. One of the easiest techniques of making a background is to simply stamp one or more pictures regularly over a scrapbook page, using different colored ink or embossing powder till you get the look you need.

if you are going to stamp onto different surfaces then ensure you have the correct ink as some surfaces particularly if they’re glossy will need a permanent ink.

Above all it is highly important to clean your rubber stamps after each use. If you have used a fast drying permanent ink such as stazon you will need to purchase an expert cleaning solution to remove the ink from the pad. Most standard inks can simply be removed with an alcohol free wipe.
Then Randall would suggest visiting IdealStampShop.com because the right Rubber Stamps can get the job done very good and make your project a success.

Do you want a great accessory to symbolize your fellowship to another? Try a friendship bracelet. They are personal and sentimental ; and the better part is that you can make them by yourself!

Friendship bracelets have been around for many years. Folk tradition claims that when anyone gives you a friendship bracelet, you must wear it and not remove it till it falls off on its own. Taking it off means that you are ending your friendship with the person that gave it to you.

These bracelets are very easy to make. Most designers use embroidery thread in making them but you can also opt to use hemp. There are a lot of knot styles to select from such as the double-chain knot and the plat but the most commonly-used one is the half-hitch knot. If you’re making the bracelet out of embroidery thread, try using 2 colors. You can also mix your favorite with that of your buddy’s to make it more personalized and remarkable.

When making the bracelet, begin by cutting three strands of one color and three strands of the other. You need to have a total of 6 strands in your hand. Tie a knot about an inch from the end of all six strands. Ensure that you secure the strands with a weight because you will be pulling on them. Form a single knot with the first 3 strands and another with the remaining three strands until the bracelet is the length you would like it to be. Secure the ends with another knot and trim them.

One way that you can make your friendship bracelet more special is to add beads to them. You can even select beads that are symbolic to you and your chum. Try searching for beads that represent what it is that you like about your friend or maybe something that reflects both of your personalities.

To add beads to your bracelet, simply thread floss into a needle and string the beads according to the pattern that you like. Watch out when stringing your beads so you won’t make that many mistakes. It’s also useful to design the pattern before you begin making the bracelet.

Creating friendship bracelets is really a good way to bond with your friend. It’s simple and easy to make plus the product is truly something you will both cherish for ages.

Working with beads is a good way of expressing your creativeness. It doesn’t only work on garments or jewelry, it works totally everywhere! By just releasing the creativeness out of your system, you can recreate fun and notable items that you and your friends can share together.

Do you have friends, kin or significant others who loves reading so much? Or do you know of someone that studies day in and out almost not having sufficient time to spend with you? Well you can make that person remember your fun memories together by gifting him with a beaded bookmark! It is so straightforward to make, so simple and totally no hassle! These beaded bookmarks are absolutely fun to use whether you adorn a store-bought bookmark with beaded tassels or make it totally from the start. Now your significant other will never forget you regardless of what he or she is doing!

Beaded bookmarks will make your books looks so fancy as they drape over your hardbound book bringing uniqueness to a row of books on the shelf. If you would like to make a fancier bookmark, you can do so by placing tassels over the top and the base of the bookmark. Coupled with a book or a journal, these fancy and inexpensive items will make wonderful present items any time of the year! Present given to family don’t have to be expensive so they might be appreciated.

Instead of buying a new bookmark, why not try to release your creativity? It is worth a try! What reminds you best of the person you are giving the bookmark to? Do you have a photograph of that person with you in it? Take that photo and edit it in the Net. Add on some meaningful message either at the back of the bookmark or below your picture. You are able to add some glitter in it if you’d like too. Have your work-of-art laminated.

Next, punch a hole into the uppermost portion of the bookmark. You can now create the beaded tassel. All you need is a string or a hemp wire and some assorted beads painted in different colors with holes that are big enough to fit the rope. If you’d like to form a more dashing look, you can substitute the string with an embroidery thread and tie a couple of your colored beads to the end part or finish it off with a dangling charm. Secure the tassel in place by stapling it or gluing it to make it safer. Easy isn’t it?

When you have the hang of making bookmarks and have given a few away, why not sell your own beaded jewelry creations? Reading is a very popular hobby and everyone is always keeping a lookout for a personalized bookmark.

If you need help with your jewelry business then our jewelry software is guaranteed to get your business organized. We also have jewelry business tools and a free jewelry book all designed to help you get the most out of your jewelry business.

Christmas is the most popular holiday for decorating your home. It’s also the time to find and make Christmas crafts! While it is very easy to purchase ready made decorations and Christmas crafts, it is far more festive and fun to make your own special Christmas crafts!

Christmas crafts can be made from a variety of materials. If you like working with wood, you can cut out typical holiday designs, like snowmen, Christmas trees, or Santa figures and then spend some time painting to bring life to your Christmas crafts. There are many websites that offer free patterns to make these items, or you can print an image from your computer and use it to create your own pattern. If it’s your first time working with wood as a Christmas craft, start out simply- cut out a rectangle and make a sign for your holiday guests! You could paint little trees or stars, and print out “May all your Christmas wishes come true!” or a similar saying.

If you’d like to really get into the holiday spirit, try your hand at making wreath Christmas crafts. Go to your local Christmas tree seller, and ask for tree branches that have fallen from the trees as people drag them to their cars. Often, you can get them for free. You’ll want to browse the Christmas crafts section of a hobby store- and pick up festive ribbon; a deep red will look beautiful. Walk down the craft aisle that contains the silk flowers and pick out some small, red holly type flowers as well as babys breath. Alternatively, you could make your wreath Christmas crafts with real flowers.

To assemble your wreath Christmas crafts, bend a wire coat hanger into a circular shape. Using string or bread ties, start winding your Christmas tree clippings around the wire to form a circular shape out of the branches. Keep attaching the pieces to your wire coat hanger until you get a full, round wreath. Here is when making your own Christmas crafts becomes fun! Wrap your ribbon around your wreath decoratively, and move it around until you like it’s positioning. Tie a fancy bow in the center. Then, using a hot glue gun, you can finish your wreath Christmas crafts by attaching pieces of babys breath and holly berries that you purchased from the craft store. Scatter them all around the wreath to create perfect Christmas crafts.

The holiday season is a festive time, and making your own Christmas crafts can really add to the special feeling of that time of year.

Warren and Karen have been involved in the internet for a number of years and run several websites. They are most interested in providing opportunities for people to connect with information relating to business, health and creativity. Check out their Christmas Crafts blog for more information.
