Bring on the skeletons, ghosts, and oogie boogies! Dawn those costumes and dark colors. And always remember the scary candy! Halloween is a
time of year to have fun and “trick or trick”. The celebration of Halloween began thousands of years ago. It has been influenced by many diverse
cultures, such as Christian, Roman, and Celtic. Halloween is not just a holiday for children in the USA, adults get into the holiday with childlike
enthusiasm, too.
Kids Desire That Scary Rush
Kids love Halloween; they love everything about it- dressing up in scary costumes, waiting for dark, and going door-to-door to get candy- kids just can’t
resist the allure of Halloween. Halloween parties often include things such as costume contests, pumpkin carving contests, apple bobbing, and other
Halloween themed activities. How can you make sure your candies are the best and most horrifying in the neighborhood?
Cockroaches covered with chocolate, bleeding skulls, and juicy worms are some of the treats children love. You will be deemed the coolest of cool if
your Halloween candy ranks high on the scare-o-meter!
If you want your house to be the envy of the neighborhood, follow these simple tips:
1. Albert’s Candy has a vast array of unique and scary candies. They always have a wide selection of candies to choose from, but the Skeleton Candy
coffins are considered the most sought after. Fear Factor Candy is featured also, if you know the TV show, then you know it will be a hit. Everyone
loves Harry Potter these days, so why not offer Harry Potter Cockroach clusters and Harry Potter Chocolate frogs? These will delight kids and adults
alike!
2. Some honestly creepy treats are made by brands like Foreign Candy and Generation Candy. Gummy brown earthworms and Boogeyman
Halloween lollipops are just a few of the ghoulish goodies they have to offer. You can also offer up alien drool and brain dips – the kids love them! If
those don’t tickle your fancy, why not give out some of the ever-popular gummy candies? There are several types of gummy candies to choose from,
including: gummy snakes, rats, spiders, and bats.
3. If you prefer the more traditional gummy bears, the kids will enjoy those as well. Vidal’s gummi flies, fried eggs and snails are a unique type of
gummi treat, just for you! They make original gummis look tame by comparison.
4. HotLix will work as a great brand for the children that you know, who are open to new things. Tasty chocolate covered cockroaches and candy
crickets are some of their special treats. They offer other horribly delicious delectables like Sour Gummy Vampire bats, Gummy Fangs, Gummy
Brains, Gummy Finger puppets, Oozing eyeballs candy, Spooky eyeball gumballs, Creepy peepers filled chocolate eyeballs and spooky Halloween
lollipops.
5. Black candy is always good to hand out on Halloween, as it is the official color of this special day. Here are a few ideas: black licorice candy, black
gummy penguins, black licorice cats, and black licorice wheels are always Halloween appropriate.
To be a hit on Halloween, drop the old standard candies like snickers, M&Ms, and candy corn, and go for something more interesting. The scary
looking candy will attract more ghosts and goblins than you’ll know what to do with!

If this is your baby’s first Christmas, there are many wonderful ways to make it Memorable. The most obvious of course is to take many movies and
still pictures of baby. Under the tree, in their Christmas outfit, sitting with Grandma and Grandpa, visiting Santa Claus and sitting with cousins among
the Christmas wrapping paper and ribbon.
The baby may be oblivious to the Holiday but you can’t let it pass by without buying wonderful things for your baby’s first Christmas. One Christmas
gift that my son received on his first Christmas now is the proud possession of his one-year-old daughter. Furniture is a wonderful way to preserve the
memory of the first Christmas.
Books always make great gifts for babies. A few of the books recommended are:
Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Pat the Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt
Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney
Any book by Dr. Seuss, children love the singsong rhythm of his books.
Many greeting card companies also make special ornaments for baby’s first Christmas. It’s a nice tradition to start a collection of ornaments for your
child when he is a baby, and add one each Christmas. What a special memento for that child when he sets up his first Christmas Tree and has all of
his personal ornaments to put on it.
Another favorite is a stuffed animal. It could play music or just be a comfortable toy for the child to hold on to. This first present could become a
beloved companion for your baby.
You also might consider buying a special outfit with Baby’s First Christmas printed on it. Save it for the day that they have their own special first baby
Christmas.
There are so many things that can be personalized now for Baby’s first Christmas. You can personalize baby blankets, clothes, and even clocks can
be personalized with your baby’s name and the year of their first Christmas.
How about a personalized Christmas stocking for your baby? This is something that could become a treasured possession for years to come and can
be passed down from one generation to another.
When buying Christmas gifts for your baby consider spending a little more and getting something that will last through the years. A baby’s first train or
doll that will remain with your child for years to come is a wonderful reminder of baby’s first Christmas.

Buying a gift for someone is easy, right? The truth is, it can be hard to think of a good gift idea for your mom or grandma. Consider wind spinners, wind chimes and garden planters, all of which can be used outdoors as well as indoors. These beautiful lawn ornaments are so versatile and with a great selection to choose from it is always fun buying wind chimes, wind spinners and garden planters.

Wind spinners are a great gift idea because they come in many different colors, shapes, sizes and themes and are mesmerizing in the wind. Good quality wind spinners will survive harsh weather if made of stainless steel which does not rust. Taking care of stainless steel wind spinners is a breeze because there is simply no maintenance. The most work mom or grandma will have to do with her wind spinners is move it to a different location if she desires. Wind spinners can be hung from brackets, hook stands, the ceiling of a porch, some deck railings, outside the front door, and for smaller ones in the window, the rearview mirror of your car, or on the Christmas tree. Wind spinners are great lawn ornaments for the garden or yard.

Wind Chimes are similar to wind spinners but have some differences. Wind chimes not only look pretty in the wind but have a relaxing tune to the wind. Many people use wind chimes as a stress reliever and they make wonderful lawn ornaments. Wind chimes are the perfect solution to a hard day of gardening for mom or grandma. Wind chimes come in many different shapes, sizes and themes, which make it easier to find the perfect one for mom or grandma. Wind chimes can also be inviting to friends and guests. Enjoy the peaceful sound in the background of conversation with any wind chimes you buy.

Garden planters can be a really fun gift to buy or make for mom or grandma. You could decorate plain clay garden planters with paints, mortar and broken tile pieces or other different textured pieces. Mom or grandma will definitely appreciate all the work you put into decorating her garden planters. If you don’t have time to decorate one yourself, there are plenty of cute garden planters to choose from in many shapes, sizes and colors. Just find the right garden planter and fill it with a beautiful flower plant. There are also garden planter stands and racks that can be used to display garden planters. Getting a planter stand will help mom or grandma showcase her favorite garden planters and make it easier to maintain all together.

With these three great gift ideas, wind chimes, wind spinners and garden planters for mom and grandma, you should be set for gifts for a while. Because wind spinners, wind chimes and garden planters are so versatile, you can always start a collection for mom or grandma if they haven’t already. You can never have too many wind spinners or wind chimes or garden planters in or out of the house. Especially garden planters because they can be used for all sorts of plants and flowers. So bring in some color, entertainment and beauty to their backyard. Mom and grandma will definitely appreciate the thought you put into buying their wind spinners, wind chimes or garden planters.

What’s Halloween without an upbeat costume camaraderie ? No charismatic Halloween costumes in your kitty and you’re most likely to fall out of the freak-wave that surges through all and sundry during Halloween !The funkier and freakier your Halloween costume, the more the fun and thrill. Demands for Halloween costumes go sky-high almost a month before the most-awaited Halloween night. And the stores generously oblige with scary Halloween masks and peachy props to pep up people’s Halloween guise !

Now halloween Halloween no longer remains a kid’s holiday today. People of higher age-groups are equally ‘spell-bound’ by the spirits of Halloween ! While men go for scary Halloween costumes, women prefer to charm in more feminine and coquettish costumes on Halloween. Greeting cards and Halloween decorating props also witness record sale figures along with Halloween party supplies and Halloween costumes. Halloween props from the grooviest to the wildest, offbeat to the upbeat—hit the shelves at all stores all over. Halloween props and Halloween costumes during this season.

It’s great to watch a world of spooks and demons, monsters and aliens unleash before you as Halloween fever takes over with a ghastly intensity. !Halloween costumes and masks have a whopping range and can be anything under the sun that grabs the attention. It can be anything from Frankenstein to Porky Pig, killer wolves to goofy clowns, Tom Cruise to Scooby Doo, dancing dolls to wacko witches, black cats to batman, honeybees to a bag of beans and so on.

But what do people do in these Halloween costumes ? Answer is simple—bewitch ! Either in a party or just going about in the neighborhood with a whole bunch, the idea is to bewitch all and charm looker-ons in unwonted Halloween gears. Some even go haunting about a haunted house with their folks, while some others spend a romantic Halloween night with their folks, while some others spend a romantic Halloween night with their spookhearts. Now let’s get down to some kooky costume ideas for your Halloween:

Play a ghost !

The most common and easy-to-do Halloween costume—cover yourself with a white sheet and cut out holes for eyes and mouth. Other colors would also do; who said ghosts can’t be colorful ? You can deck this one up more with red-colored spray paints or may be with a crooked hat.

Go ghoulish !

Get some macabre Halloween masks and spruce up the rest in keeping with the face you choose to give yourself. You can go for wolf masks or monster masks if you’re planning to look scary. Alternatively, you can preen in celebrity Halloween masks or go for masks replicating your favorite cartoon character

Old is gold !

You can even choose a classic Halloween costume in antiquity theme—may be wigs, tattoos, headbands and other accessories which belong to older times.

Paint it scary !

If you’ve had enough of Halloween masks and the Halloween props for some years now, do something different this time. Paint your face ! You can choose to look either horrific or funny—but giving a face to yourself is going to be fun for sure. So be a Dr. Jekyll or a Mr. Hyde—the choice is yours !

Prop up the poise !

Just prop up your Halloween with the screamingly freaky Halloween props like body parts, tombstones, blood-stained axes, broomsticks, broken fences, distortion mirrors, detachable brains and hearts, batty wings, fog machines, bleeding knives and much more.

Author: Abigail Franks

Although historical Halloween has some sinister beginnings, today Halloween means dressing up in costumes and having a wonderful time. Parties, dressing up at work, decorating the house all are part of the festivities that have become Halloween. To really get into the whole Halloween thing however must include not only a great costume but also a great Halloween mask. The costume is rather simple to obtain as there are costume shops in most major cities and it’s even possible to order a particular costume on the web for delivery just before Halloween. Although you may now have the clothing to look like your favorite character or monster, your face still is easily recognizable. This is where a high quality Halloween mask can really come into play.

If there’s a choice between a fancy costume or a great Halloween mask and makeup, definitely take the mask. The reason is that although the costume can complete a certain “look” any character you can imagine can also wear basic street clothes. Consider the strong heavily made-up character, a clown. Yes, it’s great to have a funny costume and big shoes, but a clown could also wear a business suit or some pajamas and be just as fun. How about a basic witch or warlock? A good Halloween mask and makeup and a cape can make a wonderful witch. So if the character you want to be for Halloween needs face or hand makeup, remember it’s the Halloween mask and interaction with the character that will be memorable, not the costume.

Halloween masks come in a variety of styles and types. The most popular and easiest to obtain is the full head latex type masks. These are the type that are available in all the Halloween shops that seem to open up the first part of October and disappear November 1st. These masks come pre colored and decorated and unfortunately also look like you’re wearing a mask.

Another option is simply makeup. Theatrical makeup is easily obtained and does a fairly good job if used along with “stick on” type appliances. Appliances are small pieces of pre formed costume latex in shapes like scars, gashes and other more gruesome things. The only problem is that many of the appliances that are easily available tend toward the more gruesome type characters, The idea is to apply the scars etc. first then finish off with the makeup to hide the edges of the appliances. All in all, a good, though somewhat limited Halloween mask idea.

The best idea of all however are full facial appliances. These are theatrical grade latex masks that can are applied directly to your face and give an extremely realistic appearance. These appliances can literally transform anyone into a wide variety of characters. Wizards, warlocks, clowns, monsters, etc. They can even age someone into their 80’s or 90’s. The biggest benefit of these types of Halloween mask is that they allow you the opportunity to become the character. You friends and guests will not remember that you “dressed up” for Halloween but that you actually were that favorite hobbit or troll.

Now however is the time to order your Halloween mask, adhesives, and makeup. It will take a few tries to get it right and you don’t want to worry about it on Halloween night. Take the time now to find that perfect Halloween mask and learn how to make this Halloween the most memorable for everyone.

Every year we always read about things that happen to people celebrating on New Year’s Eve. In happens all the time, but it doesn’t have to if you follow some really simple tips. We have put together some of the most common tips that you will need to know to have a happy and safe New Years Eve. These are simple that almost anyone can follow to have a great holiday.

New Years Eve seems to get bigger every year and so does the parties around the globe. This means more chances for people to get hurt if they don’t take some simple steps to protect themselves. Of course one of the most common sense one is not to drink and drive. Celebrating the New Year this happens so having someone to drive who isn’t drinking should be number one on the to do list. This way your party will get home safety without any problems. If you don’t want to do that many cities are starting to offer public transportation so you can get home safely. Other options are just-stay at a friend’s house until you can drive if you’re going to drink.

Fireworks it seems are another thing that is associated with New Years Eve and many people use it to light off and bring in the New Year. Several precautions should also be used here so you will have no problems with fireworks. Always have a bucket of water handy just in case something goes wrong. Many people in the cooler climates think snow is the same think as water, but it’s not when dealing with fireworks so keep this in mind. Most of the time things will go off without a hitch, but it never hurts to be prepared. Pets are another issue when you talk about fireworks. They get scared from the loud noises and sometimes will not act like they normally do. This is something that you will want to watch out for. Pets can sometimes do things you really don’t understand to protect themselves.

In the last few years boating has become a bigger part of New Years Eve celebration and accidents can occur on boats as well. In fact accidents on boats can be more deadly than on land. If drinking is going to happen on a boat remember to wear life jackets. No matter if you think they look stupid or bulky they can save your life. When people get drunk many times, they don’t pay attention to how dangerous water can be and death can occur fairly quickly. If you do go boating set ground rules so everyone is familiar with them. This way people know what to expect, another great idea is to partner up with people so you know exactly where there at. Many times people wander away and this is when accidents happen because no one is around in case they get into trouble. Avoid this at all costs.

New Years Eve is a time for celebration, but you need to follow proper safety tips or tragic results can happen. If you follow some of these tips that were talked about above you should have no problem enjoying your New Years Eves’ celebration. Those try and take chances are the ones who usually get hurt or worse cause their own death. Party within reason and you will have another safe and joyous New Years Eve.

Where Did New Years Resolutions Come From?

On the 1st of January, millions of people around the globe start working on New Years resolutions. Chances are you have tried them yourself in one way or another. They are one of the fun things about the New Year. But have you ever wondered where they came from?

Who first started setting New Years Resolutions?

Well, here is a brief history of the origins of the New Years resolution for you:

The Babylonians The first recorded New Years resolutions were made by the Babylonians around 4000 years ago. Most commonly, it revolved around returning any borrowed farm equipment, as their New Year coincided with the start of their farming season.

The Romans Not long after, the Romans would start the new year by counting the stock of the previous year and setting a goal to accomplish more in the coming year.

It was not just western countries that set resolutions either.

The Chinese The Chinese set a special New Years resolution – house cleaning. Most people nowadays would relate this to Spring-Cleaning. At the coming of the New Year, the Chinese would clean their house from top to bottom. What a great way to start the year, with a beautiful clean house!

The Modern World Today we still set New Years resolutions, and try to achieve them. They are almost always based around self-improvement resolutions and goals. They are a way to mark the beginning of changes in our habits and lifestyle. The most common resolutions include losing weight, quitting smoking and/or drinking, and improving your finances.

As mentioned earlier, millions of people make these resolutions but unfortunately only 10% ever manage to achieve them. It is a sad fact, but many of these resolutions do not even last longer than a few weeks. By July, most have been completely forgotten and no real progress against the resolution has been made.

It is amazing what such a long history the New Years resolution has had. You may be thinking of creating on yourself this coming New Year. And why not? It is a tradition practiced around the entire globe. Above all though, we should remember that the most important aspect of a New Years resolution is to take action and stick to it.

Without delay, let us get into the top new years resolutions tips to help you guarantee success this year. And the first tip is critical to your success:

Be Realistic: This is the thing that you absolutely must start out with. If you are not realistic about your new years resolution, you are setting yourself up for failure.

For instance, if your new years resolution is to lose 40 pounds in the next 3 months, that is a very big goal. Why not aim a little lower (say 20 pounds) and then when you reach that goal, set another.

Create a Plan: It’s not enough to make a new years resolution on New Year’s Eve and then wish for success in the new year. You have to think your resolution through and create a plan of attack. In fact, the earlier you start that plan, the better.

For instance, if you are trying to exercise more, create a workout schedule that is both realistic and easy to incorporate into your life. Even better, get a friend to workout with so you stick with your plan.

Tell Others About It: When you keep your resolution a secret, it is easy to just ignore it and not stick with it until you are successful. If you tell your friends and family members about it, they are not going to let you off the hook – they are going to ask about your progress and help motivate you to achieve your new years resolution.

Keep a Journal to Track Your Progress: When you write down your progress daily, it is easy to stay motivated and when you see your progress.

Sometimes you cannot see how much you have accomplished because you are weighing yourself daily or staring at that pile of bills, but by reviewing your journal, you will stay motivated because those small accomplishments will begin to pile up.

Do It For 21 Days Straight: Habits are formed after 21 days, which means that you have a higher likelihood of achieving your resolution if you do something toward your resolution for at least 21 days.

According to a recent survey of that looked at how people were keeping new years resolutions, the following is a breakdown of those how many resolutions are kept over time:

past the first week: 75%

past 2 weeks: 71%

after one month: 64%

after 6 months: 46%

As you can see, if you can keep it going for just 21 days, you will make it into that group of people who are sticking with their resolutions, while everyone else goes back to their same old self they have been wanting to change forever. Do NOT let that happen to you!

And if you do find yourself slipping up, take the next tip to heart…

Failure is Only Temporary: Expect and plan for setbacks. Sometimes when we’re trying to do something new or change something about ourselves, we have a set back.

Do not let it de-motivate you or bring you down. Just charge ahead with that New Years Resolutions and pursue that goal of yours until you are successful. You need to go easy on yourself and try not to beat yourself up over the slip ups along the way. Just get back on the “horse” and charge ahead toward achieving your goal.

Have Fun and Celebrate: Resolutions are supposed to be something that you WANT to do, not HAVE to do so have some fun with it to stay motivated and you will find yourself wanting to exercise, eat less, pay down bad debt or do whatever your resolution is.

Celebrate by buying yourself something little that you have been wanting to buy or indulge in your favorite dessert if you have lost your first five pounds (just don’t celebrate too much)!

In Summary
The statistics say that only about 5 to 20 percent of us keep our New Year’s resolutions (what number you believe depends on what source you look up). The biggest area of failures are around diet fitness resolutions.

Do not let the statistics stop you from pursuing a new years resolution this year. When you follow the above tips for new years resolutions, you will easily fall into the 20 percent of people who achieve their new years resolutions! I hope these tips for new years resolution success have helped. Now go take action on your resolution!

Love makes a difference in handling Christmas excitement, expectations and depression.

One time when I was home from boarding school to New York City where my parents lived at age eight I got terribly excited when looking up at our tall Christmas tree that reached the ceiling that my father had to cut the top off, much to my child’s regret.

What a great tree that was, all green and its spruce aroma filled the air of our apartment. Outside was snow spiraling the air with white fluffs smacking us in our crispy cool faces. If my father did not watch me I would be eating the fresh snow off the curb or making snowballs for you know what.

I would get so excited and happy at the advent of Christmas because here love was. My mother told me that people were always nicer to each other at Christmas. Yes, I did not know why yet, but there was magic in the air!

However, when we got the big tree up the stairs, my father and I, and into the apartment, cut off top and all, I looked up at it and fell into a faint and hit my forehead above my left eye against the radiator as I fell.

The plain truth which I realized later is that the promise of Christmas is the promise of love, of caring, of new life itself.

Have you ever felt disappointed at the Christmas presents you got? I certainly have. It seems like those who love us never can really get us the present we really long for. Is that not because we long for love in our life?

Why is it that families tend to go home to the parents at Christmas, or one of the siblings’ houses?

It’s called the family archetype. We return to the nest where our existence started. In nature at the darkest time of the year, the Winter Solstice, the new light is born. After the longest night and shortest day the days start getting longer and we know that after winter spring and summer will come. Inside us it’s the birth of hope again, of another year of life, yet with new wonderful things possible.

It’s the death-rebirth cycle. Not only nature goes into hibernation, and living things are still but not dead. It’s also hibernation in the inner womb. It’s the season of the inner light, and so the outer light of many candles lit in the afternoon and evening brings joy to our hearts.

Where I lived for awhile in Sweden and Norway both, they have the custom of lighting big candles that cannot be blown out by the wind and placing them outside shops and restaurants on the sidewalks. This represents the winter light when all is darkness.

Darkness represents depression, the withdrawal of light, of life force, of energy and enthusiasm for new projects. In England it seems like the whole month of December nobody works that hard in their companies. What are they doing? The good restaurants are full all afternoon and evening because companies take all their employees to company Christmas feasts. They stay for hours, believe me. And they are mostly in no condition to work after such a feast.

Ancient societies always had winter light festivals, whether snow visited them or not because of the climate.

Christmas, the birth of the Savior, was put by the Church fathers at near the time of the traditional winter solstice. Whether they knew it or not, they were intuiting the need for humans to go through their own inner death-rebirth cycles.

And we go through ours as well, whether we know it or not that consciously.

Here are a few suggestions that will guide you through the winter holidays. Don’t worry about whether you are religious or not. Seek the spiritual significance of Christmas-Winter Solstice in your own inner being.

If you get caught up in a Christmas gift buying frenzy just remember that each of these material gifts symbolizes the One Great Gift really, which is the gift of life itself. Life comes through love.

If you don’t have that much love in your life at the moment, don’t get totally depressed by it, or if you are depressed, don’t hide from it with alcohol or anything else you want to take to relieve your depression.

Don’t let materialism take you over. In other words, don’t give yourself totally away to others in gifts or time spent with so many people. Choose. Pick your close friends and family. Pick what you want to do during the holidays as well as go with some of what you feel obligated to do.

Relax into the festivities. Take time to be with fellow workers and friends. Remember that the spirit of this time is bringing light out of darkness. Take some time to write an old friend with something serious about yourself and how life is going for both of you.

After being with a lot of people celebrating, also suggest to some of those closest to you that you all go somewhere in nature for a walk.

Remember that your life is one year older, as is everyone’s. You let go of the old year to make space for the new by acknowledging the old life, or the highlights of the year, and then you let them go.

In giving feast toasts you might ask each person to toast one highlight of your being or working together throughout the past year. Thus you are acknowledging the light, symbolically the high value times of the year.

If you just go along with things, or act happy when you don’t feel so happy, or get totally stressed out with shopping and planning dinners and parties, then you will lose a lot of energy and feel depressed by the time Christmas arrives or right after.

Don’t forget that New Years is soon to follow!

Seems like most of us want to be with other people during the transition into the new year. What is the tradition of kissing at twelve o’clock midnight but the symbolic hope of true love in the new year?

If you’re not with somebody special, don’t get depressed about it. If year after year you are not with someone, then make sure you go to a New Years special workshop or something.

Give up something old in transition into the new year. Yet also focus on something new for the new year.

Once I asked a group of twenty people who wanted me to lead their New Years celebration at the sea in Big Sur, California, on an estate, ‘what is the worst New Years you ever had?’ People told amazing stories. One theme dominated them all. It seems that when New Years approaches expectations are aroused. You are supposed to be supremely happy and optimistic. But what if you just don’t feel that way?

Understandable, say we psychologists. Expectations are never as good as reality.

The best attitude to approach the Christmas and New Years time is to open to all the feelings without expectation of what should happen.

Strangely, Christmas fights are common in families that get together every Christmas. You don’t have to fight but families do. Like my mother said, people are kinder to each other at Christmas. Was that a wish or a reality? She and her sister sometimes had horrible fights.

The problem is that most of us don’t get or give enough love and appreciation during the year, so then at the time of love and new birth we feel secretly depressed over not having enough love in our lives. We fight each other and become sick and depressed, rather than choose to love as best we can everywhere we can.

Watch out then because Christmas symbolizes the birth of new life out of love, and New Years symbolizes the sacrifice of the old life for the new. Sacrifice your negativity and hurt and choose again to love.

Love is choosing to love fully despite disappointments and past hurts. You must love yourself first before you can love others. You must love others first before they can love you.

The only true gift at Christmas is love.

Love is accepting the unacceptable because you want new life for yourself and others.

Love is the sacrifice of old hurts and traumas so that you can love and share again.

Love is caring about what is important in life. Love is caring about who is important in your life.

Love is feeding the rat behind the door as well as the beautiful kitten in front of the door.

Love is not perfect but the choice to love is fulness itself.

Love does not end hate but it does offer a chance for change.

Love is exchanging old life for new. Lovers may be old but their love can always be new.

Yet don’t expect perfection in love, or love’s ideal. A rose may be almost perfect but you don’t have to be.

You wont find your ideal gift or person probably out there. You have to allow times of quiet this holiday season to feel your inner person and to do things that are meaningful to you. Love yourself first and you will love others. Try to get love from others and you will be hurting yourself and them.

Don’t try to buy love with Christmas presents. Relax. Slow down. The right gift at the right moment will come to you if you let it. Go for simple. If you have to work too hard at it why do it?

Don’t just send Christmas Cards, if you still do. Send a few heartfelt sharing letters to a few people who have really counted for you in your life.

Don’t just have parties or go to parties, or to family gatherings. Make sure you put in special times, like lunches together, for special friends whom you don’t see that often because of the work-a-day world the rest of the year.

What people need is your love, not your gifts. You need to allow the time and inner receptivity to love and to allow love to come your way.

It’s also a time for reminiscence. With that special friend or family member, make time for the two of you to sit down together, or go for an hour’s walk in nature, just to tune in.

How has it gone with you this year? you ask. And you share some yourself about what you feel most good about, and also what has been difficult for you.

Remember, the real gift is love. We were born through an act of love and closeness and thus we become alive. We have the gift of life for as long as we have it. Don’t worry about death. The real problem is to fully live when you are alive.

Don’t rush around at Christmas and New Years any more than you have to. Slow down the pace. Don’t drink or eat heavily to avoid a secret pain, or because you think you have to be happy all the time during the holidays. You don’t.

If you are your real self you will feel the sadness of what didn’t happen for you this past year, and the joy from what positive things have become the shining lights on your Christmas tree of life and love.

The true star is love.
